Mumbai, June 27 (NationPress) In the wake of a call from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to boycott Diljit Dosanjh, it appears that the Punjabi actor and singer has been excluded from the upcoming sequel "Border 2".
While an official announcement has yet to be made, renowned television star Rupali Ganguly has expressed her approval of the producers' decision.
The 'Anupamaa' actress took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to share, "Border was a film that sparked profound patriotism among our countrymen. It's genuinely disheartening and frustrating to witness an actor in #Border2 who does not acknowledge his duties towards the nation."
Commending the 'Border 2' producers, she further stated, "Kudos to the makers for demonstrating clarity and conviction by omitting that actor from the film. A project that honors our soldiers and national pride must embody that spirit in every aspect. There is no place for conflicted loyalties in a film about national pride. JAI HIND 🇮🇳"
Sources suggest that FWICE has sent a letter to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and Anurag Singh, requesting the removal of Diljit from "Border 2".
"The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), which represents the backbone of the Indian film and television sector, is significantly frustrated and worried about the casting of actor-singer Mr. Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2, produced under the JP Films banner in conjunction with T-Series and directed by Mr. Anurag Singh. By choosing to partner with an artist who has blatantly overlooked the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production undermines the solidarity shown by the Indian film industry with the nation," a portion of the letter stated.
Diljit has faced considerable backlash following the release of the trailer for his film "Sardaar Ji 3", which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir.
Critics have targeted him for collaborating with a Pakistani actor amid rising tensions between the two nations following the tragic Pahalgam attack.
