Mumbai, June 19 (NationPress) Actor Saanand Verma, known for his role in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, has shared valuable insights regarding the fleeting nature of fame within the television sector.
Reflecting on his experiences, Verma pointed out that TV stardom often diminishes once a show is no longer airing, with actors being remembered primarily while their characters are actively in the limelight. He also acknowledged that although working in television presents significant challenges, it offers substantial rewards, particularly due to its extensive audience outreach.
“There’s no doubt that television is a deeply demanding medium. Yet, we directly engage with the public. Through television, we enter people’s homes. Nowadays, OTT platforms have also made their way into living spaces. This shift means that almost all television content is now accessible on OTT platforms as well, allowing audiences to enjoy it from their bedrooms and living rooms, thus expanding our connection with viewers significantly.”
Nevertheless, Verma highlighted that television actors often remain in the public memory solely as long as their shows thrive.
“The truth is, television has a limited lifespan. As long as a show is on the air, everything seems great. We actors are recognized and remembered. However, once the show concludes, people start to forget within just six months. That’s the nature of the industry. Of course, there are exceptions such as Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, which has demonstrated longevity. Generally, though, shows last one or two years, and actors are only remembered for that duration. Afterward, many face a waiting period for new roles, sometimes for six months or longer, and in the meantime, they often take on smaller jobs to make ends meet. The quick forgetfulness of audiences is a downside of television.”
Saanand Verma believes that, in contrast to television, films create a lasting impact on viewers. He elaborated that movies maintain their relevance for years, with audiences continuing to appreciate them long after their premiere.
According to him, actors who star in films, like Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan, or Pankaj Tripathi, remain prominent in the public eye even during long breaks between releases. Their previous work continues to be celebrated, underscoring the enduring quality of cinema and its capacity to provide actors with sustained recognition and presence.
