Saiyami Kher Discusses the Motivation Behind Her Role in ‘Agni’

Mumbai, Dec 5 (NationPress) Actress Saiyami Kher, who is preparing for her upcoming streaming movie ‘Agni’, has unveiled the inspiration behind her character in the film.
‘Agni’, directed by Rahul Dholakia, narrates the tale of firefighters and the obstacles they encounter in a densely populated nation like India.
The actress revealed that she found significant inspiration from Harshini Kanhekar, India’s first female firefighter, to embody the strength, bravery, and tenacity needed for this pioneering character. In the film, Saiyami stars alongside Pratik Gandhi and Divyendu Sharma.
Reflecting on her preparation for the role, Saiyami Kher stated, “Taking on the role of a firefighter is something I feel extremely proud and honored to do. I was genuinely embarrassed because I was unaware of the female representation within the fire department. Harshini Kanhekar was the first woman firefighter, and her story is both humbling and inspiring. It's quite disheartening that many people are unaware that there are female firefighters.”
She added, “Harshini’s narrative of determination, resilience, and breaking barriers served as a beacon for many to emulate. Portraying a character like this brought its own set of challenges, both physically and emotionally. Harshini’s groundbreaking achievements allowed me to appreciate the depth of commitment and resilience that women like her contribute to a traditionally male-dominated field. I hope my portrayal in ‘Agni’ will not only pay tribute to her but also motivate others to acknowledge the quiet strength of our everyday heroes. I was incredibly fortunate to spend time with nearly 50 women firefighters during my preparation and draw inspiration from their remarkable lives.”
‘Agni’ honors the bravery of firefighters while delivering a distinctive narrative to the Indian audience. It presents a gripping story that explores the lives of those who risk their safety to save others.
