Los Angeles, April 17 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Sandra Huller, renowned for her roles in Anatomy of a Fall and The Zone of Interest, will join forces with actor Colman Domingo in Goran Stolevski’s True-ish.
This film serves as a satirical drama, marking the director's follow-up to Housekeeping for Beginners. International rights have been acquired by Charades and New Europe Film Sales, while North American rights will be represented by UTA Independent Film Group, as reported by Variety.
The project is set to be presented to buyers at the Cannes Film Market. Currently in production, the narrative centers on Janet Paine, a well-meaning yet deeply insecure PR executive from Manhattan, specializing in smear campaigns.
According to the film’s synopsis, “A toxic build-up of stress, alcohol, and miscommunication leads her to the Balkans for a job that appears noble, as director of outreach at a ‘peace lab’. However, it actually involves creating fake news to target political regimes on the edges of the EU. In her desperation to rectify past errors and demonstrate initiative, she ends up staging footage of atrocities, plunging her into deeper trouble with serious international repercussions.”
As noted by Variety, Stolevski is a Macedonian-Australian director celebrated for his unique storytelling approach. His latest film, Housekeeping for Beginners, won an award at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
His feature debut, You Won’t Be Alone, premiered at Sundance in 2022 and represented Australia in the Oscar race, while his second film, Of an Age, launched the Melbourne Film Festival.
Stolevski’s long-time collaborators, Kristina Ceyton and Samantha Jennings of Causeway Films (known for The Babadook and Talk to Me), are producing True-ish. The film is scheduled to shoot in Eastern Europe in early 2026.
Financing for the film will be supported by Australian and European federal and state funding agencies, along with local tax incentives.
