Los Angeles, Dec 22 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Amanda Seyfried has opened up about her aspirations for her character in ‘Mamma Mia’. She believes that the theme of motherhood aligns beautifully with her character's journey.
During the Los Angeles premiere of ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’, Seyfried expressed her vision for what Sophie’s life might look like if a ‘Mamma Mia 3’ were to come to fruition, according to People magazine.
She shared with People, “Oh, with kids. I mean, I love being a mother,” said Seyfried, 40, who has two children. “I love portraying a mother, and I would love to explore the intricacies of motherhood and raising children on a picturesque Greek island, much like Donna did with Sophie.”
The character of Sophie’s mother, Donna, was played by Meryl Streep in the 2008 musical romantic comedy. Seyfried also discussed the possibility of a storyline featuring Sophie as a mother.
She mentioned, “I think that would be really fascinating. I have no clue where the story might lead, but I’m certain it will include plenty of singing and dancing. I’ll keep advocating for that movie until I’m blue in the face.”
According to People, a script for ‘Mamma Mia 3’ has already been completed, serving as a sequel to the 2018 film ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’. The project is currently in development, as confirmed by producer Judy Craymer.
“We are clear on the direction we want to take with the film, and it will definitely happen,” Craymer told Deadline in May, while mentioning the potential addition of pop star Sabrina Carpenter to the cast, likely alongside Seyfried and Streep, who is now 76.
Off the screen, Amanda Seyfried is well-acquainted with motherhood, as she shares daughter Nina, 8, and son Thomas, 5, with her husband Thomas Sadoski. The couple got engaged in 2016 and eloped in a private ceremony in 2017, currently residing on a farm with their children.
