In ‘Fighter’, Hashmi plays a pivotal role as an IAF pilot who operates the Russian-made Ilyushin Il-76 to drop Garud Commandos, the elite special forces of the Indian Air Force, on a mission to rescue Sartaj "Taj" Gill, portrayed by Karan Singh Grover.
During a recent conversation with IANS, Sharib revealed that he dedicated three days to master his Russian accent for a specific scene. He described it as a tense moment, yet he successfully infused humor into it. When asked about Siddharth Anand's direction for this scene, he mentioned, “Everything was on paper. The script was self-explanatory. I was trying to save him and suddenly broke into a Russian accent. I worked on it for three days.”
‘Fighter’ is based on a narrative co-written by Hashmi and Ramon Chibb, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, alongside supporting actors Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Rishabh Sawhney.
Hashmi elaborated, “The initial scenes are quite serious, leaving the audience uncertain of what’s to come. When I say hello, everything shifts. I truly enjoyed portraying this character; it’s very special to me. I prepared extensively for a particular scene and had a blast during the shoot. Working with Siddharth Anand was a rewarding experience.”
Meanwhile, ‘Murderbaad’, directed by Arnab Chatterjee, delves into the mysterious disappearance of a guest in a Rajasthani palace. What begins as a straightforward missing-person case evolves into a complex web of secrets and deeply rooted psychological truths.
Produced by Arnab’s own ACjee Entertainment, ‘Murderbaad’ is scheduled for release on July 18, 2025.
