Mumbai, June 24 (NationPress) Actress Sheen Dass recently provided her insights on the prevalent discussion surrounding nepotism in the entertainment sector.
In a candid conversation with IANS, she highlighted the significance of talent and impartiality in casting choices. While recognizing that some individuals may receive opportunities more readily, Sheen asserted that it becomes exceedingly unjust when those lacking qualifications are favored over deserving and skilled artists.
The ‘Dakini’ actress remarked, “It’s a natural desire for everyone to want the best for their loved ones, and that’s entirely understandable. However, it becomes inequitable when individuals without the necessary talent are provided chances at the expense of worthy contenders. Personally, I wish for my friends and family to succeed as well, but not at the detriment of someone else's abilities or career.”
Sheen Dass also recounted her journey from television to Bollywood, indicating that she did not perceive a substantial difference between the two platforms. She noted that in today’s changing entertainment landscape, TV actors are increasingly venturing into films and digital media, with the distinctions between them gradually fading.
“I didn’t really sense a significant disparity. Nowadays, TV actors are branching out into films and web series too. I haven’t faced any bias personally. Whether it’s a movie or a web series, I’ve auditioned like everyone else. If the directors appreciated my work, they extended an opportunity. No one inquired about my background. Television has equipped me with everything I know—I will forever be thankful for that. I take pride in having worked in television and continue to do so.”
Discussing her new show, ‘Aami Dakini – Husn Bhi, Maut Bhi,’ Dass expressed, “It was a completely different experience. I’ve never portrayed a character like this before. I’m truly fortunate to receive opportunities to take on such unique roles. Dakini isn’t merely a ghost—she’s an emotionally rich and complex character. She’s a simple woman endowed with magical abilities, a remarkable dancer, and someone who loves deeply. However, she has been betrayed by her beloved. She has endured much suffering, yet even after death, she harbors the hope of reuniting with her love. As an actor, this role has offered me a wonderful chance to delve into those emotions.”
“Aami Dakini – Husn Bhi, Maut Bhi” debuted on Sony Entertainment Television and SonyLIV on June 23.
