Mumbai, March 27 (NationPress) A significant fraud case has been initiated against 15 individuals, including Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade, for allegedly swindling people out of crores under the pretense of a chit fund scheme.

Reports indicate that the accused were operating a company called ‘The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited,’ which enticed villagers with promises of high returns on their investments. Agents for the company purportedly attracted hundreds of individuals by guaranteeing that their funds would double in a brief period. However, after amassing crores from unsuspecting villagers, the company is said to have ceased operations and vanished from the district. This fraudulent scheme had been active in Mahoba for a decade before coming under legal scrutiny.

Authorities have lodged a case at the Srinagar police station, and an investigation is currently in progress to reveal the full magnitude of the scam. Further actions will be determined based on the inquiry's discoveries.

This isn't the first instance of Shreyas Talpade facing fraud allegations. Last month, a First Information Report was filed against him and actor Alok Nath in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly defrauding investors of over Rs. 9 crores. Alok Nath and Shreyas Talpade, along with five members of a credit cooperative society, were implicated in a fraud case at the Gomti Nagar Police Station in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

Previously, they, along with 11 others, were connected to a similar case in Sonipat, Haryana, linked to a multi-level marketing fraud. The controversy involves a cooperative society that had been seeking investments for six years, promising high returns. Reports suggest that Alok Nath and Shreyas Talpade had endorsed the society's investment schemes, thus lending credibility to the fraudulent operation.

On a different note, Shreyas will soon appear in the upcoming comedy, "Housefull 5." The film features a star-studded cast, including Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Bobby Deol, Fardeen Khan, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, and Chunky Pandey.
