Shruti Haasan Adds a Unique Twist to Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road'

Mumbai, Dec 18 (NationPress) Actress Shruti Haasan infused her own flair into American rapper Lil Nas X's popular track 'Old Town Road' during her jam session.

Shruti shared a glimpse of her jam session on her Instagram stories. In a stylish monochrome video, the actress is seen in a black ensemble complemented by a baseball cap. She passionately holds onto the microphone and delivers a powerful rendition of 'Old Town Road'.

"Just doing cover jams between the originals.. miss jamming with the best sweetest boys ever," she captioned the post.

'Old Town Road' is the debut mainstream single by Lil Nas X, initially released independently in December 2018. After capturing the audience's attention, the single was re-launched by Columbia Records in March 2019. The rapper also collaborated on a remix featuring American country singer Billy Ray Cyrus.

The song has been classified as 'country rap', a musical genre that has been relatively uncommon in mainstream music prior to its release.

On the professional front, Shruti and Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan are currently in Jaipur, the pink city, for the filming of their upcoming project 'Coolie', which also stars Rajinikanth. This marks the first collaboration between Shruti and Aamir.

Insiders reveal that Shruti has already begun shooting alongside Aamir in Jaipur. Having previously filmed portions of 'Coolie' in Vizag and Chennai, Shruti has been deeply involved in the project. With Aamir now joining the cast, anticipation for this cinematic venture has reached new heights.

The film is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, renowned for his work on 'Vikram', 'Kaithi', and 'Leo'.

Alongside Shruti and Aamir, the film features prominent actors including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Reba Monica John, and others in significant roles. The technical team comprises composer Anirudh Ravichander, editor Philomin Raj, and cinematographer Girish Gangadharan.

'Coolie' is set for a grand release in 2025.

Shruti, the daughter of Tamil cinema legend Kamal Haasan and actress Sarika Thakur, is also a successful playback singer. She has lent her voice to Hindi films such as 'Aazma' for 'Luck', 'Alvida' for 'D-Day', and 'Joganiyan' for 'Tevar'.

She began her journey as a music director with her father's production 'Unnaipol Oruvan' and has since established her own music band. For her work on 'Unnaipol Oruvan', she received the Best Music Director award at the Edison Awards.

Last year, the actress unveiled her single 'Monster Machine', an edgy industrial rock track that celebrates a misfit attitude.
