Chennai, Jan 23 (NationPress) Cinematographer Siddharth, who collaborated with the second unit on the highly anticipated historical war drama ‘Kannappa’, has revealed the three significant challenges faced by the crew during their shoot in New Zealand.
For those unfamiliar, Kannappa is a historical film directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and boasts a stellar cast from the Indian film industry, including actors Vishnu Manchu, Mohan Babu, Mohanlal, Prabhas, Preity Mukundhan, Akshay Kumar, Sarathkumar, and Kajal Aggarwal.
The cinematography for the project was handled by US cinematographer Sheldon Chau. Given that the film was primarily shot in New Zealand and had a tight schedule, the production team also utilized a second unit to film specific segments concurrently, with Siddharth, known for his work in blockbuster films such as ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, serving as its cameraman.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Siddharth discussed the hurdles encountered while filming this grand project in New Zealand.
“There were three primary challenges for the team. The first was the weather. We had to film in extremely low temperatures, sometimes around four to five degrees, and shooting outdoors in the early mornings added to the difficulty,” the skilled cinematographer explained.
“The second challenge was our limited manpower. Since we were filming in New Zealand, we couldn’t bring too many crew members along, and we had two units working simultaneously,” he continued.
The third challenge, according to Siddharth, was time. “We had to maintain a rapid pace to complete our scenes on schedule, as delaying any part was not an option. That was the third obstacle we faced.”
The film is set to be released on April 25 of this year and narrates the story of Kannappa, a devoted warrior of Lord Shiva.
