Los Angeles, May 19 (NationPress) The iconic film series ‘Mission: Impossible’ is reaching its conclusion, marking the end of an era with no more films in the franchise. This development has stirred emotions among fans.

Even the cast members are experiencing mixed feelings, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.

Actor Simon Pegg, who has played I.M.F. (Impossible Mission Force) technician Benji Dunn since ‘Mission: Impossible III’ in 2006, expressed that it feels “bittersweet” to see the franchise close its chapter with ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’. He described the situation as “strange”.

In an interview with Collider, Pegg shared, “It’s strange. It’s bittersweet, is the best way I can describe it. It’s been such a ride. It’s been such an amazing experience. I feel grateful, and I feel sad, and I’m excited for people to see this movie. I mean, what an incredible wrapping up.”

The ‘Hot Fuzz’ star praised director Christopher McQuarrie, who has directed the series since 2015’s ‘Mission: Impossible, Rogue Nation’, stating that he “has done such an incredible job” in crafting the narrative of Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise).

Pegg remarked, “(McQuarrie) has done such an incredible job embracing everything that's gone before and pulling it into this movie as a kind of culmination of all Ethan's choices. I don't think there could be a better way to go out.”

Reflecting on his favorite moments from the series, Pegg admitted he never imagined being part of so many thrilling action scenes within the ‘Mission: Impossible’ universe.

He reminisced, “I drove a speedboat up the River Seine, which was so much fun. They basically closed the River Seine for me. There’s a lot of aqua. In fact, it’s all water-related. I drove a water taxi through Venice, and I rescued, or rather retrieved, Sean Harris from a submerged armored car wearing a rebreather, which is different from scuba. So, every day on ‘Mission’ is like that. Bombing through Casablanca in a battered BMW, being up there on the mountain watching Tom do that stunt where he jumped off a cliff. I mean, it’s one of those jobs.”

Pegg’s character Benji Dunn will team up with Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and the rest of the I.M.F. crew, including Hayley Atwell and Ving Rhames, in ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning’, where they will strive to thwart a powerful artificial intelligence known as The Entity, which threatens to unleash a nuclear apocalypse.

Pegg recently teased that Cruise’s stunts in ‘The Final Reckoning’ are “just beggar belief.”

Point of View

It's essential to recognize the impact this has had on its fans and the actors involved. The bittersweet sentiment echoed by Simon Pegg reflects a broader sense of nostalgia and appreciation for a series that has defined action cinema for over two decades.
