Mumbai, Nov 8 (NationPress) Actress Sonakshi Sinha, known for her role in the newly released film ‘Jatadhara’, has expressed her views on the cross-pollination of artists and technicians in the realm of pan-India films.
The pan-India film movement traces its roots back to earlier days when films featuring Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were aired on satellite television. Its significance surged with the advent of the ‘Baahubali’ franchise.
While promoting her film in the Andheri West area of Mumbai, Sonakshi was asked about the pressures of working in pan-India films, which require appealing to a diverse audience. She responded with a firm negative.
Reflecting on her experience as an actress, she stated, “The more the merrier, I guess. Collaborating with talented artists allows us to learn immensely from each other. Every individual brings their unique narrative, and for me, that's the most rewarding aspect of engaging with people from varied regions, languages, industries, cultures, and communities.”
‘Jatadhara’, directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, is a pan-India mythological–supernatural thriller. It features Sudheer Babu and Shilpa Shirodkar, delving into the intricate intersections of Indian folklore, black magic, and avarice, centering on an ancient treasure guarded by sinister forces. Sonakshi portrays a mysterious pishachini (female spirit), while Sudheer plays a man entangled in a dark realm of rituals and redemption.
She further emphasized, “This exposure significantly enhances your skills as an actor. Observing and listening to people and their stories is crucial, as you never know when you might draw inspiration for a role. Being a good listener and an astute observer is essential.”
Produced by Zee Studios under the guidance of Umesh KR Bansal, Prerna Arora, Aruna Agarwal, and Shivin Narang, with co-producers Akshay Kejriwal and Kussum Arora, and creative producers Divya Vijay and Sagar Ambre, ‘Jatadhara’ is currently showing in cinemas in both Hindi and Telugu.
