Mumbai, Oct 4 (NationPress) Actress Sonam, renowned for her roles in ‘Tridev’ and ‘Vishwatma’, reminisces about her initial experience on set. While scenes in beachwear often instill nerves in even the most seasoned actors, she revealed that she felt remarkably at ease, attributing this comfort to the late filmmaker-producer Yash Chopra.
On Saturday, the actress shared a nostalgic video on her Instagram showcasing her beach shoot from ‘Vijay’, directed by Yash Chopra.
In her heartfelt caption, Sonam reflected on that memorable shoot, noting how it unexpectedly sparked her love for chocolates.
She wrote, “Boo hoo #gafoor And just like that I began my journey with a bikini and a chocolate…Unabashedly. Lights, camera, sound, and action!” It was my very first day in front of the camera for the silver screen. Yash ji drew inspiration from the iconic beach scene of Bo Derek in the film 10, which influenced my introduction in ‘Vijay’. Surprisingly, I felt relaxed throughout the shoot, munching on Five Star chocolate bars all day. That’s how my love for Five Star began. I used to devour a couple during each shoot afterward, believing they brought me luck. (Teenagers can be quirky!). To this day, it remains my favorite chocolate. As for the scene, every time Yash ji called 'cut,' my hairstylist would rush over with my dressing gown.
She also shared that it was Yash Chopra and Rishi Kapoor who made her feel exceptionally comfortable by instructing her hairstylist on her hair.
“They exuded class and dignity. Thus, with this very scene, my journey in the Indian film industry commenced. Ironically, two years later, Yash ji invited me to be part of Aaina, which I had to decline as I was getting married at 18 and had paused signing new projects. (I received numerous outstanding movie offers during that pre-retirement period that I couldn't take). Nevertheless, my dear friend Amrita Singh excelled in Aaina.
