Mumbai, Feb 12 (NationPress) Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya recently recognized the genius of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, clarifying that he does not identify as a 'visual director' like him.

During his latest appearance on Komal Nahta’s podcast, "Game Changers," Barjatya shared his creative philosophy, setting his method apart from his peers. He stressed that while visuals hold importance, his main priority lies in the narrative, emphasizing how each moment of the story is depicted on screen.

He remarked, “Unless I don’t find every single character, and I’m prepared for every song, I don’t depend on any choreographer. I visualize, I create, I want everything documented. Komal Ji, I’m not a visual director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali; he is a master. I’m fundamentally a storyteller. What will be visualized at every moment matters to me.”

The 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain' director also discussed his distinctive filmmaking approach, labeling himself a "selfish director." When asked by Komal Nahta about his selective filmmaking style and the reason behind his limited film releases each year, Barjatya termed himself a ‘selfish director.’

“As a director, Komalji, I am very selfish. Unless I’m fully prepared, I don't want to begin,” Barjatya stated.

The ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ filmmaker added, “That’s why it takes me 5 or 6 years to create a film. I’m currently aiming to produce a movie in 3 years. We are also engaging in TV shows, and the OTT space has emerged. Although it takes time, regardless of whether it’s successful or not, it feels worthwhile to the banner.”

Recently, Sooraj Barjatya made his foray into the digital realm with the show “Bada Naam Karenge,” directed by Palash Vaswani, alongside Barjatya. The series features talents like Kanwaljeet Singh, Alka Amin, Rajesh Jais, Chitrali Lokesh, Deepika Amin, Jameel Khan, Rajesh Tailang, Anjana Sukhani, Sadhika Sayal, Gyanendra Tripathi, Priyamvada Kant, Omm Dubey, and Bhavesh Babani, among others.

The show debuted on Sony LIV on February 7.
