Steven Spielberg Ventures into Western Film Production
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Los Angeles, March 14 (NationPress) Renowned Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has unveiled plans for a new film project. After expressing last year that the western genre had long “eluded (him) for decades,” Spielberg is finally stepping into this realm.
The acclaimed filmmaker is preparing to direct a western movie, with specifics of the project still kept under wraps, as reported by ‘Variety’.
During an engaging discussion at SXSW, moderator Sean Fennessey inquired about Spielberg’s intentions regarding a western film. Spielberg replied, “I can’t disclose any details right now, but I have something in the pipeline,” adding, “And it kicks a**.” He also mentioned his aspiration to film in Texas, possibly as a nod to the SXSW atmosphere in Austin.
When pressed for further information, he stated, “There will be horses. There will be guns. I can assure you, no tropes will be present. There will be no stereotypes.”
According to ‘Variety’, much of the dialogue also touched on Spielberg's thoughts about extraterrestrial life and his forthcoming UFO-themed film, ‘Disclosure Day’. When Fennessy referenced a recent podcast featuring Barack Obama making bold claims about aliens, Spielberg chuckled.
He said, “When Obama made that statement, I thought, ‘Oh my god, this is fantastic for ‘Disclosure Day’. This is incredible’.” He continued, “However, two days later, he clarified that he believed in life in the cosmos, which is something everyone should accept. No one should assume that we are the only intelligent life in the vast universe.”
Discussing UFOs, Spielberg remarked, “Everyone should explore this subject and watch the numerous documentaries available since 2018. I don’t have any more information than any of you, but I strongly suspect we are not alone on Earth at this moment.”
