Sudip Sharma Describes Hathi Ram Chaudhary as a Deeply Spiritually Evolved Individual

Mumbai, Jan 13 (NationPress) Sudip Sharma, the mastermind behind the immensely popular streaming series ‘Paatal Lok’, highlighted that the principal character, Hathi Ram Chaudhary, portrayed by Jaideep Ahlawat, is a character of significant spiritual depth.

In an interview with IANS prior to the show's debut, Sudip elaborated on how Hathi Ram embodies simplicity without indulging in complex philosophies, having achieved a state of zen that many aspire to attain.

He stated to IANS, “Hathi Ram Chaudhary is a very spiritually evolved man. But you don't see him like that. When we discuss spiritually evolved characters, we often envision those with intricate philosophies. Hathi Ram is not that. He possesses a clear understanding of right and wrong, guided by a robust moral compass, which he unwaveringly adheres to. No external force can persuade him to alter his beliefs. What is right, is right; what is wrong, is wrong.”

He continued, “Regardless of who stands before him, urging him to act otherwise or to ignore the truth, he remains steadfast. That’s what I truly admire about him. So, when people say that Hathi Ram appears unchanged or behaves consistently, it signifies that he has arrived at a certain phase in life. He has already discovered that zen state that we all strive to achieve. He is devoid of restlessness; Hathi Ram possesses a resoluteness.”

‘Paatal Lok’ follows a disillusioned cop, played by Jaideep, who is tasked with probing a high-profile case. As he delves deeper into the investigation, he finds himself ensnared in the sinister underbelly of the underworld. The series draws inspiration from traditional notions of Swarg, Dharti, and Paatal (heaven, earth, and hell), serving as metaphors for the diverse social classes in India.

The upcoming second season of the series is slated for release on Prime Video on January 17.
