Sunil Lahiri Shares Chilling Fan Encounter During Ramayan Shoot
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 30 (NationPress) Actor Sunil Lahiri, renowned for portraying Lakshman in the beloved television series Ramayan, recently recounted a frightening encounter with a fan during the show's filming days.
In a video shared on his social media platform, Lahiri stated, “Jai Shri Ram. I want to share a fascinating tale that reminds me of the Ramayan shooting days. Recently, someone arrived at our building claiming to be a family member. However, upon security's investigation, it turned out he was deceiving us, and he was sent away.”
He expressed that the incident brought back memories of a similar event from the Ramayan filming.
“One day, after an extended shoot in the bright sun, I had a few days off. Without my beard and with oil in my hair, I was walking near the studio's main gate when a man approached me and said, ‘Hello, I wish to meet Sunil Lahiri.’ I inquired about his identity, and he claimed, ‘I am his brother from Bhopal.’”
Finding the situation quite ironic, Lahiri remarked, “It was astonishing. He came to see me but couldn't recognize me, pretending to be my brother,” he recounted.
Reflecting on this experience, the actor concluded, “They say that when the time is right, strangers become family. Take care, stay happy, and be healthy. Jai Shri Ram.”
For those unfamiliar, Ramayan is considered one of the most iconic television shows in history.
After its initial broadcast in the late 1980s, the show's cast became immensely popular and achieved great success.
The series featured Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Sunil Lahiri as Lakshman, Arvind Trivedi as Ravan, Dara Singh as Hanuman, and Dipika Chikhlia as Sita.
Originally aired in 1987, it continued for a year before concluding in 1988 on Doordarshan.
During its original run, the show would cause streets to come to a halt every Sunday as viewers, during an era when television sets were scarce, gathered to watch it.
In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, Ramayan was re-broadcast on Doordarshan and captivated audiences once again for over two months.
