Mumbai, Feb 17 (NationPress) National Award-winning singer and actor Swanand Kirkire asserts that Hindi film music has always been a dynamic landscape and will continue to evolve.
In discussing the ongoing dialogue between melody and algorithm-driven hits, Kirkire emphasizes that music is a constantly evolving art form.
He shared with IANS: “Having observed the transformation of Hindi film music through the years, I can confidently say that music is an ever-evolving entity. What was contemporary yesterday becomes outdated today, and what is groundbreaking today will soon find itself in the past.”
In a time where streaming services and digital metrics reign supreme, he recognizes that algorithms significantly influence what becomes popular.
He elaborated: “Innovative experiments, advanced technologies, fresh sounds, and diverse influences continuously shape the music realm. Algorithms are undoubtedly a major component of our lives nowadays, and we often feel compelled to create music that aligns with these trends.”
However, he stresses the importance of the commercial side of music.
“This concern amplifies because music is also a business. Therefore, the challenge of reaching a wider audience while generating revenue becomes paramount. The landscape is perpetually shifting,” he remarked.
Despite this, Kirkire believes the essential truth transcends trends or technology.
The artist stated: “As I mentioned, good music and bad music have always existed. There was good music and bad music in the past, there is good music and bad music today, and I am certain there will be good music and bad music in the future.”
Apart from music, Kirkire is also thriving in his acting career.
With roles in projects like Chumbak, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Three of Us, Panchayat, and the recent Bandwale, he indicates this journey has awakened a deeper artistic desire within him.
“I’ve participated in numerous projects. From Chumbak and Badrinath Ki Dulhania to Three of Us, Panchayat, and the current Bandwale, I am also engaged in three or four more films, including a Rajshri production. It’s not just one endeavor anymore. It has stirred a new artistic yearning within me.”
Interestingly, acting was not part of his initial aspirations.
“I’m eager to embrace more roles because it’s incredibly challenging.
Initially, I had no intention of pursuing acting. But now that I’ve begun, and people appreciate my work, and I relish the challenge, I definitely want to explore many more roles. Absolutely.”
