Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 12 (NationPress) Music composer, singer, lyricist, and actor Swanand Kirkire is making his debut as a show creator with Bandwaale. He expressed that the experience of developing my first series and also playing the lead role has been incredibly exhilarating.
Discussing this new venture, Swanand remarked, “For a long time, stories have lingered with me—some conveyed through music, some through characters, and others quietly residing in my mind.”
He elaborated: Bandwaale is the culmination of those narratives finally taking shape, allowing them to evolve over time. The journey of crafting my first series while also starring in it has been both humbling and exhilarating.
The National Award-winning artist noted that there’s a unique responsibility involved when “you’re constructing an entire world while also inhabiting it as a character.”
“I’ve learned to trust the process, engage in profound collaboration, and let the narrative lead me. This feels like a natural progression in my artistic journey, and I’m thankful to Prime Video for supporting a story that resonates deeply with me,” he stated.
The series is set to be available for streaming on Prime Video. The show is co-created by Swanand Kirkire and Ankur Tewari, marking a significant milestone in his storytelling career.
Swanand has twice won the National Film Award for Best Lyrics: first in 2006 for the song 'Bande Me Tha Dum...Vande Mataram' from Lage Raho Munna Bhai, and again in 2009 for 'Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh' from 3 Idiots.
In 2018, at the 66th National Film Awards, he received the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for the Marathi film Chumbak. He made guest appearances as Sansad ji in Panchayat 3 and as Mansoor Khan Sahab in Qala, where he also contributed as a lyricist and singer.
