Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) Acclaimed filmmaker and producer Ram Gopal Varma, known for his National Award-winning works, is gearing up to begin production on the next chapter of his political crime series, 'Sarkar 4', next month. The director revealed this exciting news during his address at the inaugural day of the Red Lorry Film Festival.
During the festival, he participated in a special screening of his iconic film 'Shiva'. Reflecting on this classic, he mentioned the influence of legendary director Steven Spielberg on his visual storytelling. He remarked, “Indeed, several shots in 'Shiva' were inspired by Spielberg's distinctive shot composition.”
He also noted that the film drew thematic inspiration from 'The Way of the Dragon', featuring the legendary Bruce Lee. He expressed that the concept originated from reimagining the core idea of that movie within a completely different context.
In addition to 'Sarkar 4', Varma confirmed he is working on another project titled 'Syndicate', stating, “My film ‘Syndicate’ will cleanse all my past mistakes.”
The director contemplated his evolving filmmaking technique, revealing that in the earlier stages of his career, he seldom relied on a strict script. He shared, “My films began to falter once I started adhering to bound scripts. When you have a set script, you risk mimicking it, which leaves little room to enhance the emotional depth throughout the filmmaking process.”
When discussing contemporary films, he expressed admiration for 'Dhurandhar' and acknowledged Aditya Dhar as one of the most promising filmmakers of the current generation, while maintaining that Spielberg remains his all-time favorite.
Meanwhile, the Red Lorry Film Festival, organized by BookMyShow, is currently taking place across various venues in Mumbai.
