Ram Gopal Varma: Transforming Real-Life Experiences into Cinematic Narratives Is My Passion

Mumbai, Dec 13 (NationPress) Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has shared his reflections on how a gangster's profound emotional reaction to the loss of his brother has significantly influenced him. Varma, who is set to appear in the upcoming episode of “The Rana Daggubati Show”, remarked: “It struck me how, for gangsters, power defines everything—even grief manifests as anger. Transforming a real-life trait into a narrative is an exercise that I genuinely cherish.”

Varma disclosed that his renowned film “Company” was not inspired by notorious underworld figures but rather stemmed from his own conflict with filmmaker Krishna Vamsi. He noted, “Whether in the underworld or within a film company, the battles of ego remain unchanged.”

In the forthcoming episode, Rana will engage in discussions with filmmakers S.S. Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.

While working on Rajamouli's Baahubali, Rana and the director are seen reminiscing about their experiences throughout the making of the two-part pan-India epic.

Reflecting on its significance, Rana stated, “It consumed a decade of my life—an entire era. Its true value became apparent only after completion. We were producing our finest work, inspired by the best we had ever encountered. It has not been the same since.”

Rajamouli elaborated on how his concepts take shape, explaining, “The books you read, the films you watch, and the conversations you engage in all accumulate like lava and erupt as ideas at the appropriate moment.”

Regarding his inspirations, S.S. Rajamouli cited Senior NTR, Kurien Verghese, and Lal Bahadur Shastri as significant figures.

“I have immense respect for Sr. NTR, not only as an actor but also as a director; he is truly groundbreaking. His impact as an actor is so profound that, at times, his contributions as a director seem almost eclipsed.”

Hosted by Rana Daggubati, The Rana Daggubati Show is an eight-episode unscripted Telugu Original produced by Spirit Media.

Featuring a remarkable lineup of guests, including Dulquer Salmaan, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, Sreeleela, Nani, Rajamouli, and Ram Gopal Varma, new episodes premiere every Saturday. The fourth episode is scheduled for streaming on Prime Video on December 14.
