Mumbai, March 7 (NationPress) In a recent dialogue emphasizing the significance of financial independence, actress Vidya Balan articulated her views on why it is crucial for women to control their finances.

Balan, who has recently been named the brand ambassador for a bank, stressed how realizing that “money is power” marked a significant change in her life. Discussing the relevance of financial autonomy, she stated, “I discovered years back that money equates to power. It's not merely about earning—it’s about taking control of your finances. You should determine how to spend, save, invest, and enhance your wealth because having financial control empowers you to face life confidently and fearlessly. Too often, particularly for women, financial reliance traps them in situations—be it an unsatisfactory marriage or a job that suppresses their passion. Numerous individuals are unable to pursue their dreams simply because they haven’t taken command of their finances. I believe that financial independence is empowering and vital for everyone, but even more so for women.”

The ‘Dirty Picture’ actress also reminisced about her path toward financial independence and the transformative moment that altered everything.

“During my wedding preparations, my father managed my finances. He advised me, 'Now that you're marrying, let your husband take care of it.' I questioned, 'Where do I fit into this? Why can’t you trust me to manage my own money?' Although I had never shown interest before, I decided it was time to take action. I realized that while we all appreciate the concept of money, truly handling it—understanding how to utilize what you possess—is what truly matters. Many women don’t even know their financial standing. Once I took control, my finances began to flourish, and my outlook transformed,” Vidya recounted.

When queried about the significance of money, Balan elaborated, “What I cherish about it—apart from the obvious benefits—is the purchasing power it grants. Not just for material possessions or security, but for the freedom to live life on your own terms. Money isn’t the source of happiness, but financial stability allows you to live life to the fullest. You don’t need excessive riches, but having enough to feel self-sufficient is vital. That sense of 'I am enough' is genuinely empowering.”

On the professional side, the 46-year-old actress was recently featured in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3” alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri. Directed by Anees Bazmee, this horror-comedy showcased Vidya reprising her iconic role of Manjulika.
