Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Dec 14 (NationPress) Actor Vivan Bhathena, celebrated for his recent performance in the film ‘120 Bahadur’, has opened up about his cherished experiences while working on the iconic ‘Chak De! India’.
During a conversation with IANS amidst the promotional events for ‘120 Bahadur’, Vivan reflected on how unique the journey was for him, especially since he transitioned from theatre to film.
He stated, “For me, ‘Chak De! India’ was an incredibly thrilling chapter. I was essentially the new guy, participating in this major Adi Chopra project. It was a fantastic time where I collaborated with Sagarika Ghatge, who was also at the beginning of her career. And then there was Shah Rukh Khan in the mix, and I was part of it all. This was a tremendous opportunity for me to display my talent and contribute my best.”
He elaborated, “It was a significant learning experience as an actor coming from a stage background. I had to adapt, as improvisation was not an option here. I was required to adhere strictly to the lines crafted by Jaideep Sahni, which were immutable. I had to navigate within numerous constraints. With Shimit Amin directing, he was very particular about his vision. There were numerous takes where he ensured he captured precisely what he envisioned, not settling until he achieved that.”
‘Chak De! India’ is a groundbreaking Hindi sports drama that artfully intertwines themes of patriotism with personal redemption. Shah Rukh Khan portrays Kabir Khan, a disgraced former hockey captain who returns as the coach of the Indian women’s team, confronting prejudice, politics, and internal conflicts. The film poignantly tackles issues of gender bias, regionalism, and the weight of representing the nation.
