Mumbai, Nov 15 (NationPress) Actor Vivan Bhathena, currently preparing for the launch of his new film ‘120 Bahadur’, revealed that he was completely unaware of the Battle of Rezang La prior to taking on the project.
The film honors the courageous Ahir soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment, who sacrificed their lives in this historic battle, and it has transformed the actor's perspective.
As the premiere of 120 Bahadur approaches, Vivan reflected on his journey into the film.
He stated, “During my audition, I had little knowledge of the story. It was in that meeting that I first learned about the Battle of Rezang La, and I was genuinely surprised. I had no clue that such a remarkable chapter existed in our history.”
The film pays tribute to the valiant soldiers who exhibited extraordinary bravery during the conflict.
He further shared, “The more I listened, the clearer it became how crucial it was for this narrative to be shared with the public. That realization prompted me to delve deeper, researching the battle, understanding what transpired, who these soldiers were, and what they represented. Many of these Ahir boys came directly from agricultural backgrounds. They were accustomed to warmer climates and had never faced such frigid temperatures. Being stationed in those harsh mountainous conditions for the first time was a shock to their systems, yet they fought with incredible mental and physical fortitude. They adapted, persevered, and stood their ground without faltering.”
For Vivan, this experience was not just about preparing for a role; it became a mission to embody the essence of true heroes.
“Eventually, when I met Razy, our director, he mentioned that I was the ideal fit for the character he envisioned. That’s how I was cast as Surja Ram, one of the courageous soldiers in 120 Bahadur,” he added.
