Chennai, Aug 31 (NationPress) Sruti Nakul, the spouse of actor Nakul, has crafted a deeply moving tribute to their beloved pet dog Gello, who sadly passed away on Saturday. In her heartfelt message, she emphasized that it wasn't they who rescued Gello, but rather it was Gello who had truly rescued them.
Sharing a collection of pictures and videos of Gello on her Instagram, Sruti reflected, "Around 14 years ago, on a chilly midnight, after watching a film, Nakul and I stumbled upon a hurt little puppy outside his apartment. He was too frightened to let us approach him. We left him some food and water, praying he would survive the night. Miraculously, he did.
"The following day, we brought him medication and more food, marking the beginning of Gello's journey into our lives. For several months, he would wait for us daily but remained aloof, taking nearly two to three months to recover, trust us, and finally allow a gentle caress. Before long, he was our apartment dog, stubbornly refusing to enter our home unless his meal was delayed.
"Throughout our dating days, through floods, marriage, children, and even during our move to a new home, Gello remained steadfast—loyal, protective, and endlessly affectionate. No matter how clean we managed to get him post-bath, he always found a way to roll in the mud or get dirty again, reminding us that he was his own master.
On Saturday, however, Gello passed away.
"Yesterday, at approximately 16-17 years old, he peacefully departed in his sleep at the same apartment complex where we had moved him.
"When I first saw him lying motionless, I felt a wave of numbness. We were aware that his final days were approaching, but witnessing his absence hit me like a freight train. At one moment, as I fetched a bedsheet to wrap him for his last rites, I thought I heard his paws padding behind me. My heart raced, but it was merely the rustling of leaves.
"Thank you, my Gello boy. You were a warrior—goofy, clever, and so affectionate until your very last day. I will miss your joyful greetings at the gate whenever we returned home. You lived life on your own terms and filled ours with love. In truth, we didn’t rescue you… You rescued us and taught us the meaning of unconditional love! Rest peacefully, my boy. You are now beside Bubbles, Oola, and Oreo! You will always be cherished, and we are eternally grateful for the time we shared with you!
