Mumbai, June 10 (NationPress) Renowned Bollywood vocalists Himani Kapoor, Prajakta Shukre, Pratibha Singh Baghel, and Kalpana Gandharv have joined forces with Grammy-nominated singer Varijashree Venugopal to create ‘Raagraanis’, an album dedicated to honoring the strength and variety of women's voices in the music industry.
Speaking about ‘Raagraanis’, Prajakta Shukre expressed, “This EP was inspired by my deep dive into composing songs influenced by Indian ragas. The notion of developing an EP was thrilling, and once Himani and I decided to collaborate, everything just fell into place. Each track is deeply connected to a specific raga and is very dear to me.”
Shukre noted the joy of working with these exceptional artists, saying, “Varijashree, Pratibha, Kalpana, and Himani each contribute their unique flair to the tracks.”
She further remarked, “The journey has been incredibly rewarding, combining classical foundations with a modern twist and beautiful lyrics. I also want to acknowledge our sound mixing engineer Himanshu Shirlekar, alongside the talented live instrumentalists and producers involved.”
This project, unveiled by Sufiscore and Namyoho Studios, presents five exquisitely crafted songs that merge Indian classical ragas with contemporary musical elements.
Himani shared, “The first song we created was Tere Bina Saawan, which I performed, and that’s when the idea for an EP struck me. I discussed it with Prajakta, and she immediately agreed. We set out to shape this unique vision together.”
She added, “At that moment, we were uncertain about the release timeline. After finalizing the compositions and lyrics, I approached Sufiscore, and they embraced our songs.”
From the heartfelt ‘Saiyaan Na Aaye’ to Varijashree Venugopal’s enchanting rendition on ‘Sajan Ghar Aaye’, the album was recorded at Laya Digi Studios in Bangalore, backed by a skilled team from Namyoho Studios, including Kamal Bharti, Nataraj Kshetricha, Swapnomoy Chowdhury, and Rajat Kumar.
The harmonious integration of traditional instruments such as flute, Esraj, saxophone, and guitar, along with the precise mixing and mastering by Himanshu Shirlekar, breathes life into every track.
The release is scheduled for June 12.
