Mumbai, Dec 19 (NationPress) A wave of nostalgia enveloped the audience as the timeless icon Zeenat Aman revived the enchantment of her classic hit ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ on the “Indian Idol” stage.
Contestant Anshika delivered a powerful and soulful interpretation of the legendary song, originally from the 1971 film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”, turning the performance into a full-fledged celebration of nostalgia.
Zeenat couldn't help but join the stage, dancing to the ageless track and receiving roaring applause from judges, contestants, and the audience. The occasion became even more memorable when Kartik Aaryan joined the esteemed diva on the dance floor.
Deeply moved by the performance, Zeenat lovingly remarked to Anshika: “Oh my Dombivli darling, aap Indian Idol ke sartaj ho mere liye.”
“Hare Rama Hare Krishna” is a 1971 Indian Hindi-language satirical musical drama crafted by Dev Anand, who also stars in the film alongside Mumtaz, Zeenat Aman, and Prem Chopra.
The film addresses the decline of Hippie culture, delivering an anti-drug message while highlighting issues linked to Westernization.
The film was a major success and a launchpad for Aman, portraying a westernized hippie, drawing inspiration from the 1968 American psychedelic movie, Psych-Out.
The concept for the film emerged when Dev Anand visited Kathmandu, Nepal, and encountered the local hippie community.
“Indian Idol” is broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television & Sony LIV.
