Bhopal/Indore, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, is set to lead a crucial high-level virtual meeting with the Mayors of the state’s 16 municipal corporations, Municipal Commissioners, District Collectors, and other representatives later this Friday.
This urgent meeting was convened due to the emergence of a health crisis in Indore linked to contaminated water, which has tragically resulted in the deaths of several individuals, with over 200 others receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state.
According to a report from the state government, at least 27 of the 208 patients currently hospitalized are in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) wards.
CM Yadav stated on X, "In light of the serious actions being taken against those responsible for the unfortunate incident stemming from the supply of contaminated water in Indore, we are also implementing corrective measures in other regions of the state."
He mentioned that all 16 Mayors, Municipal Commissioners, Chairpersons, District Collectors, and officials from the health and Public Engineering Departments will be participating in the virtual meeting.
"During this meeting, we will analyze the civic systems statewide and discuss the challenges we face," he added.
Prior to this upcoming meeting, CM Yadav convened a session with senior officials, including Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, and various others from the Public Health and Family Welfare department, where he ordered actions against several municipal officials in Indore.
Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Yadav directed that a show-cause notice be issued to Indore Municipal Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav and Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia, who has been transferred immediately.
Furthermore, Pradeep Nigam, the In-charge Superintendent Engineer of the Water Distribution Department of the Indore Municipal Corporation, has been suspended.
CM Yadav has also instructed that necessary vacancies in the Indore Municipal Corporation be filled without delay.
"I reviewed the actions being undertaken by the state government concerning the Indore contaminated drinking water case with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials today and issued essential directives. I also discussed the report submitted by the Additional Chief Secretary of the state Urban Development Department," shared Chief Minister Yadav on X.
As per the latest health bulletin released by the Indore health department on Friday evening, over 1,400 individuals have experienced symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea in Bhagirathpura over the last nine days.
According to the state government's report, there are currently 208 patients hospitalized in various hospitals in Indore, with 27 receiving treatment in ICUs. While 101 patients were discharged on Friday.
