Patna, Jan 3 (NationPress) The Bihar State Minority Commission has urged for the swift arrest of all individuals involved and strict legal measures concerning an alleged mob attack on a Muslim laborer in Madhubani district.
The Commission has classified the event as a critical instance of communal violence and lawlessness.
This incident took place in Teachka village under the jurisdiction of Rajnagar police station in Madhubani district, gaining notoriety after a video of the attack circulated widely on social media.
The victim has been named as Mohammad Murshid Alam, a resident of Shankarpur village, Ward No. 14, situated under Bhimpur police station in Supaul district.
The Commission noted that Mohammad Murshid Alam had been residing in a rented accommodation in the Rehmatganj area with fellow laborers.
They were all involved in government drainage construction work in Ward No. 44 of Madhubani district under a contractor named Manish Singh.
The Commission reported that on December 30, 2025, some anti-social elements from Teachka village, allegedly motivated by religious bias, incorrectly labeled the victim as a Bangladeshi national.
The assailants purportedly coerced him into chanting offensive religious slogans, abducted him on a motorcycle, and transported him to a pond near a Durga temple, where approximately 50 individuals brutally assaulted him, forcibly removing his religious symbol (beard) while employing violent and derogatory religious terminology, leaving him bloodied and on the verge of death.
He sustained severe injuries and is currently hospitalized, with his condition reported as critical.
The Bihar State Minority Commission has taken a serious stance on this incident, demanding the immediate filing of an FIR against all perpetrators under applicable laws, including those concerning mob violence, as well as the prompt apprehension of those involved, strict actions in line with Supreme Court guidelines on mob assaults, and financial aid to the victim’s family as per the relief norms established by the Bihar government.
The Commission has also instructed that updates regarding the actions taken by the district administration and police be communicated.
This incident has raised significant alarm regarding communal targeting, mob violence, and the safety of migrant laborers engaged in government projects.
In the meantime, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Madhubani has mandated severe actions against the accused.
A case has been lodged at the Rajnagar police station in Madhubani.
Concerning this occurrence, AIMIM national spokesperson Adil Hasan remarked that assaulting an Indian citizen under the pretense of labeling him a Bangladeshi epitomizes a failure of law and order and represents an affront to humanity.
He has called for the immediate capture of the perpetrators and justice for the victim.
