Poonch, March 22 (NationPress) The inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch are celebrating as the groundwork for a 50-bed Critical Care Block commences under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This essential establishment, being constructed at Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital, is poised to provide advanced healthcare services to the residents of this remote border area.

Part of the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) initiative, the critical care unit will significantly improve access to vital medical services for the population of Poonch and surrounding regions.

Thankful for this advancement, community members have expressed their gratitude to the Central Government and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, expressing hope for the prompt completion of the project.

In an interview with IANS, Chief Medical Officer of Poonch, Dr Parvez Ahmed Khan, highlighted the facility's significance, stating, "Upon completion, the Critical Care Block will offer high-standard medical care to critically-ill patients within Poonch itself, minimizing the necessity to travel to distant cities. This four-story block will be furnished with modern amenities including X-ray and ultrasound machines, an operation theatre, laboratory, CT scan machine, an ICU, and much more."

He noted that the facility will serve over 600,000 people, ensuring improved healthcare access for the region.

Local resident Imtiyaz Ahmad Salaria voiced his appreciation, telling IANS, "We are immensely grateful to the government and district administration for this vital facility. Now, we will not have to journey far for medical care, especially during emergencies."

He further called for the project's rapid completion, stressing the challenges faced by border residents seeking healthcare in distant towns. "This is a remarkable initiative by the government, and if finished quickly, it will be a tremendous benefit for us," he remarked.

The establishment of Critical Care Blocks under PM-ABHIM follows a systematic strategy, ensuring effective planning and implementation. The guidelines encompass aspects such as site selection, space requirements, infrastructure design, and legal formalities, all aimed at delivering quality healthcare facilities to underserved areas.

For the residents of Poonch, this initiative is transformative, promising enhanced medical infrastructure and alleviating the burdens of those who previously had to endure long trips for treatment.
