Jaipur, April 7 (NationPress) In response to the alarming deaths of five children in a brief span of six days, surveillance has been significantly enhanced, and precautionary steps have been taken to avert any further tragedies in the villages of Ghata and Lalpura, situated in Rajasthan's Salumbar district. The fatalities, reported from the Lasadiya area, have prompted an urgent reaction from the state government, which has dispatched medical teams to the impacted regions while a thorough investigation is currently in progress, as stated by officials on Tuesday.

Initial reports indicate that the children experienced mild fever and fatigue before their health rapidly declined. Despite being transported to local healthcare facilities and hospitals in Dhariyawad, Salumbar, and Udaipur, all attempts to save them were unsuccessful.

Taking the situation seriously, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has instructed officials to immediately evaluate the ground conditions, determine the cause of these deaths, and implement measures to prevent any potential spread of disease.

In accordance with these directives, the Department of Medical and Health has assembled a team of specialists from RNT Medical College, Udaipur.

This team has arrived in the affected villages to conduct a comprehensive investigation, which includes collecting blood samples and performing field assessments.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas monitored the situation through a video conference and directed officials to ensure ongoing surveillance and prompt response actions. Principal Secretary (Medical & Health) Gayatri Rathore announced that health teams have been deployed across the impacted villages and neighboring areas for rigorous screening of children, particularly those displaying fever symptoms.

She emphasized the need for immediate treatment for symptomatic children, urgent referral of critical cases to district or medical college hospitals, and the execution of preventive actions such as anti-larval treatments, fogging, and source reduction to combat mosquito-borne diseases. Door-to-door surveys are also being carried out to identify any new cases and manage the situation efficiently.

Sub-Divisional Officer Dinesh Acharya, along with medical teams, visited the villages and engaged with affected families. Samples from both children and their relatives are being gathered to ascertain the precise cause of the illness.

However, in one instance, family members of a deceased child resisted sample collection due to previous inconclusive findings from hospitals. Officials continue their efforts to counsel residents and secure their cooperation.

Villagers have also raised significant concerns regarding infrastructure issues, such as poor road conditions between Lasadiya and neighboring areas, which hinder access to medical care.

In addition, inadequate mobile network connectivity in Ghata and Lalpura complicates timely communication during emergencies.

The Health Department has advised residents to uphold proper hygiene, consume boiled or clean water, and seek prompt medical attention if experiencing fever or related symptoms. Authorities have indicated that the true cause of the illness will only be determined after receiving comprehensive reports.

Meanwhile, surveillance efforts have been intensified, and precautionary measures have been enhanced to prevent any further casualties.
