Agartala, Nov 5 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Wednesday that a new Rs 900-crore private super speciality hospital is set to significantly enhance the state's healthcare infrastructure.
During the foundation stone-laying ceremony at Radha Kishore Nagar in West Tripura, the Chief Minister highlighted that the trust and confidence of patients heavily rely on their healthcare providers, who must continually advance their skills to tackle ongoing medical challenges.
As the Health and Family Welfare portfolio holder, Saha disclosed that the state government has allocated approximately 28 acres of land for the project to the private hospital authorities from Manipur, which also includes plans to launch a medical college.
The total investment for the initiative is estimated at Rs 900 crore.
The Chief Minister remarked that this hospital is already setting a remarkable precedent in the medical sector across the Northeastern states.
“Those involved in healthcare bear a heavy responsibility. Although we have introduced nine super-speciality services at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital with an investment of Rs 250 crore, many patients still need to seek treatment outside the state. It’s essential for doctors to enhance their expertise to bolster super-speciality services. The success of kidney transplants at this private hospital has indeed boosted our confidence,” he stated.
Saha, a dental surgeon by profession, also recounted his experience as a keynote speaker at a recent event on Forensic Odontology at the National Forensic Sciences University in Ahmedabad.
“Forensic Odontology played a crucial role in identifying victims of the recent air crash in Ahmedabad. I have suggested introducing this field in Tripura’s Forensic Sciences University as well,” he added.
Underlining Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Saha pointed out that Gujarat emerged as a model state during Modi’s leadership, making significant advancements in infrastructure, agriculture, and connectivity.
“During my recent visit to Ahmedabad, I met with Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and sought collaboration to replicate similar projects in Tripura, which will generate job opportunities for both tribal and non-tribal communities,” he continued.
The Chief Minister asserted that the establishment of this private hospital will benefit thousands in the surrounding areas and contribute to the region's overall development.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by MLA and former Tripura assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, CMD of the private hospital Dr. Palin Khundongbam, senior doctors, and health department officials.
