Israeli Defense Forces Report 1,900 Iranian Military Casualties Amid Ongoing Strikes
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jerusalem, March 10 (NationPress) The Israeli Defense Forces have reportedly eliminated approximately 1,900 Iranian military personnel and leaders since the onset of hostilities, as stated by military spokesperson Effie Defrin. He indicated that Israel is contemplating potential actions against Iran's newly appointed supreme leader.
During a press conference on Monday, Defrin confirmed that an additional individual was killed earlier that day due to an Iranian missile strike within Israel, raising the total fatalities from Iranian assaults to 12 civilians, alongside two soldiers who lost their lives in confrontations with Hezbollah militants in Lebanon.
The Israeli Health Ministry has reported that a total of 2,238 individuals have required hospitalization since the initiation of the US-Israeli strikes against Iran, with 91 still receiving treatment.
Defrin noted that the air force persisted with its bombardments on Monday, targeting areas in Tehran, Isfahan, and southern Iran.
Since the beginning of the US-Israeli offensive on February 28, Israeli forces have conducted strikes on six military airfields in Iran, aiming at the Quds Force's logistics operations, resulting in the destruction of 16 cargo planes believed to be transporting arms and funds to Iran's regional allies.
Israeli airstrikes have also continued in Beirut, where Defrin mentioned that they targeted 35 high-rise structures associated with Hezbollah, with over 700 Hezbollah positions in Lebanon hit as well.
Defrin emphasized that Israel's military operations would persist "as long as necessary," as reported by Xinhua news agency.
When questioned about the possibility of targeting Iran's new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, whose appointment was disclosed on Sunday, Defrin asserted, "Anyone who poses a threat will be targeted."
On March 9, US President Donald Trump stated that the US-Israeli military actions against Iran would conclude "soon." However, when asked if the strikes would cease within the week during a press conference in Florida, he clarified, "Not yet. But soon. Very soon."
This statement seemed contradictory as Trump claimed that US objectives were mostly achieved while also echoing US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's earlier caution that the conflict has merely begun.
