Naypyidaw, March 28 (NationPress) A powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar on Friday, followed by an aftershock measuring 6.4 magnitude just twelve minutes later.
The tremors were also experienced in Thailand, parts of northeastern India, and China.
As reported by the US Geological Survey, the earthquake's epicenter was located 16 km northwest of the city of Sagaing at a depth of 10 km.
The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) confirmed the quake's depth at 10 km, with the epicenter near Mandalay.
Numerous residents in the provincial capital of Kunming opted to stay outside for safety after feeling the tremors. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties so far.
