Kabul, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi, engaged in a phone call with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin on Tuesday, denouncing the recent deadly assault in Tajikistan's Khatlon region, which resulted in the deaths of three Chinese nationals.

In his statement, Muttaqi expressed his condemnation and sorrow for the tragic security incidents on Tajik soil that led to the loss of Chinese lives. He emphasized the significance of joint cooperation to ensure regional stability, asserting that the Islamic Emirate is fully committed to enhancing border security, executing collaborative investigations, and fostering all forms of coordination, as acting against hostile forces is deemed essential at this juncture.

Furthermore, the conversation encapsulated discussions surrounding political relations, economic partnerships, border issues, security collaboration, and regional initiatives between the nations.

Muttaqi noted that an atmosphere of trust has recently blossomed between Afghanistan and Tajikistan regarding political, economic, and security collaboration, while acknowledging that certain factions are attempting to disrupt this favorable trend.

Highlighting the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties, Muhriddin voiced support for bolstering border collaboration and confirmed Tajikistan's preference for constructive engagement with the Afghan administration, dismissing groups that aim to destabilize ties between the two nations.

“Both parties agreed to sustain regular communication between border forces, continue joint security committees, and convene technical meetings to enhance mutual trust and stability in the region,” the Afghan Foreign Ministry articulated.

According to the Tajikistan Foreign Ministry, an armed assault was executed on November 26 from the territory of Afghanistan targeting the LLC Shohin SM employees' camp situated within the jurisdiction of the 1st Border Guard Post 'Istiqlol' of the 'Yol' Border Detachment in the Khatlon region.

This attack utilized an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with grenades and firearms, resulting in the deaths of three Chinese employees of LLC Shahin SM.

Earlier, on Sunday, the Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan, Guo Zhijun, urgently contacted Tajik Foreign Minister Mukhriddin and the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for National Security in Tajikistan, Farhod Kamolzoda.

The discussions revolved around the latest developments concerning the safety of Chinese businesses and citizens in the border area between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Guo urged Tajikistan to implement all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese enterprises and nationals in the country.
