Kabul, March 9 (NationPress) Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi has charged that Pakistani Army Generals are jeopardizing the security of the entire region by failing to address their own internal challenges, according to local media reports from Monday.

During an iftar event attended by ambassadors from various countries in Kabul, Muttaqi remarked that the military leadership in Pakistan is at odds with its lawmakers, religious leaders, and the general populace. He criticized their approach of attempting to resolve conflicts through confrontation and pressure instead of engaging in meaningful dialogue, asserting that such tactics would only enhance resistance.

"Pakistani Generals have endangered the security of the entire region instead of tackling their domestic issues," he stated.

He also highlighted that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is not a recent development, having begun its operations well before the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan, as reported by Ariana News.

These comments come amidst ongoing claims from Pakistani officials that groups, particularly the TTP, based in Afghanistan are responsible for attacks within Pakistan. However, the Taliban government has refuted Islamabad's assertions.

Muttaqi accused Pakistan of harshly expelling Afghan migrants, obstructing trade routes, infringing on Afghanistan's sovereignty, and disseminating propaganda against Afghanistan in international forums. He emphasized that the Afghan people have historically resisted oppression and are prepared to make sacrifices for their country's freedom, as reported by Ariana News.

The recent wave of hostilities was sparked when Taliban-led Afghan forces initiated retaliatory strikes against Pakistani military positions on February 27, following an earlier assault by Pakistan on February 21 targeting Afghan territories. In reaction to these Afghan operations, Pakistan launched 'Operation Ghazab lil-Haq' (Righteous Fury) in response to what it termed "unprovoked firing" by Afghan forces across various border sectors.

On Sunday, a significant fire broke out in a commercial market in the Torkham area of Afghanistan as a result of a major strike by Pakistani forces, leading to extensive damage to businesses and property.

Torkham Mayor Mawlawi Abdullah Mustafa reported that multiple shells were fired toward the town around 4 am (local time) on Sunday, impacting a commercial market area, as per Afghanistan's Khaama Press, citing Bakhtawar News Agency.

The shelling ignited a fire that rapidly spread through several shops, prompting firefighters and local residents to collaborate in controlling the blaze.

Authorities indicated that four fire trucks, municipal water tankers, and local volunteers were deployed to suppress the fire; however, it had not yet been completely extinguished.

More than 150 shops have reportedly been destroyed due to the fire, with financial losses estimated to be nearly 300 million Afghanistan, according to the market complex owner.

This ongoing conflict illustrates the escalating instability along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, where clashes and casualty reports continue to strain relations between the two nations.
