Ancient Roman Statue Discovered in Athens

Athens, December 10 (NationPress) - Greek archaeologists have made a significant discovery with the unearthing of a Roman-era statue in the heart of Athens, according to the nation's culture ministry.

This headless statue, crafted from white marble, portrays a nude male figure that bears resemblance to a deity from Greek mythology.

The well-preserved statue was located just a few hundred meters away from the ancient Odeon of Herodes Atticus, situated at the base of the Acropolis hill, as reported by the Xinhua news agency.

During the Roman period, opulent homes were built at the foot of this hill, adorned with intricate mosaics and stunning sculptures, as highlighted by the ministry on Monday.

In recent years, similar archaeological finds have been documented amid infrastructure projects in the Greek capital.
