Balochistan’s Chief Minister Called Out as 'Broker' for Pakistani Soldiers by Activist
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Washington, April 20 (NationPress) Tara Chand, the President of the Baloch American Congress, has criticized Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, labeling him a "broker for Pakistani soldiers".
Chand also denounced the detention of leaders from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), including Mahrang Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Bebow Baloch, claiming they have been unjustly imprisoned for several months.
“You, acting as a broker for Pakistani soldiers, along with the so-called Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, should feel shame for imprisoning the innocent daughters of the Baloch nation—Mahrang Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Bebow Baloch—without any justification. You identify as Baloch, yet you lock up the daughters of Balochistan without reason. This clearly reveals that you are merely a puppet of the soldiers, and your position holds no real power,” Chand expressed on X.
He further condemned the actions of Baloch ministers and those in authority, accusing them of serving as "agents" for Pakistani soldiers within the provincial assembly.
“All Baloch individuals within the Balochistan government should also feel ashamed. The ministers and those in power ought to stop branding themselves as Baloch. They must acknowledge the disgrace in their actions. Now is the time for the Baloch to take accountability and hold those acting as agents of Pakistani soldiers within the Balochistan assemblies responsible,” Chand continued.
Recently, Naseem Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), urged the international community to speak out against the “illegal detention” of BYC leaders, who have been in custody for over a year.
He stated that the ongoing imprisonment represents a serious violation of international human rights and due process.
“It has been a year since the unlawful detention of BYC leaders. A year filled with injustice, silence, and denial of fundamental rights. Their only ‘offense’ is speaking out against enforced disappearances and state oppression in Balochistan. This situation is not just illegal; it is a clear violation of international human rights and due process. The world cannot remain silent,” Naseem posted on X.
Numerous human rights organizations have recently called for the immediate release of the BYC leaders, insisting that all “false and politically motivated charges” be dismissed and that fair trials free from state influence be guaranteed.
