Washington, Nov 3 (NationPress) The President of the Baloch American Congress, Tara Chand, expressed strong disapproval of the Pakistani government for detaining leaders of the human rights group Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) for more than seven months, labeling it a part of a 'cruel conspiracy'.
Chand revealed that BYC's central organiser Mahrang Baloch, along with leaders Bebarg Baloch and Sibgatullah Shah, in addition to activists Beebow Baloch and Gulzadi Baloch, are experiencing torture in custody. He noted that Mahrang, perceived as the embodiment of the 'Baloch nation's resistance', continues to suffer immensely while imprisoned.
"The rulers in Pakistan are oppressive and merciless. Institutions like the courts and provincial government are completely under their influence. The military and intelligence agencies of Pakistan will not allow Mahrang Baloch to be freed, as she symbolizes the voice and strength of the Baloch nation," Chand stated on X this Monday.
"Mahrang Baloch has dedicated her life to preserving her people and fighting against the ongoing genocide targeting the Baloch nation. History is currently testing the bravery of the Baloch people. We must unite, peacefully protest, and persist in our struggle throughout Balochistan until Dr. Mahrang Baloch and all other detained leaders are liberated," the post continued.
Chand urged the citizens of Balochistan to come together and initiate a collective movement for the freedom of Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders.
"All patriotic and democratic entities who cherish Balochistan should unite for this noble cause. The time has arrived for every Baloch, from every corner, to rise and collectively strive for freedom," he emphasized.
The Baloch leader further asserted that it is the moral obligation of every Baloch to stand strong, unite, and continue the fight for the liberation of Mahrang Baloch and the other BYC leaders for the 'freedom and dignity' of the Baloch nation.
Recently, the BYC condemned the judicial proceedings against its leaders and activists in Pakistan's Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), characterizing it as political retribution masked as legal action.
The rights organization noted that the human rights advocates have been in custody for the last seven months, with the first three months involving 'illegal' detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
It further claimed that 'false cases and fabricated FIRs' were created to ensure their ongoing detention.
The BYC described the entire process as not only a breach of fundamental human rights but also a blatant example of political revenge and state oppression.
