Quetta, Jan 27 (NationPress) The chief of the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), Allah Nazar Baloch, has accused Balochistan's Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti of enforcing a draconian detention law. He claims that, on average, five individuals are being abducted and made to disappear each day in the province due to the actions of Pakistani law enforcement agencies.

In a statement shared via the social media platform Truth Social, Baloch implored organizations such as the United Nations, the European Union, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch, along with global intellectuals, to denounce what he describes as the ongoing genocide of the Baloch people.

“The puppet Chief Minister of occupied Balochistan, following directives from his superiors, has implemented this draconian detention law. I earnestly call upon international human rights bodies to voice their opposition against this tyranny,” Baloch stated on Truth Social.

“These detention centers bear resemblance to Nazi concentration camps. Daily, five individuals are abducted and made to vanish by Pakistan’s law enforcement. The policy of ‘kill and dump’ has escalated in this rogue state’s operations in Balochistan,” he added.

Allah Nazar Baloch criticized Baloch parliamentarians for their silence regarding the severe actions taken by the authorities in Balochistan, calling such silence during times of injustice a form of “complicity.” He asserted that the Baloch freedom movement is “legitimate” and in line with international laws and principles.

“I also wish to address those Baloch parliamentarians who profess non-violence. If that’s truly the case, why is there such silence from them in the face of brutal actions by a hardline state? Silence in the face of injustice equates to complicity. The world is progressing toward a multipolar order, yet the United Nations remains, bearing both moral and legal responsibilities,” he expressed.

Recently, a report revealed that the provincial government, under the controversial leadership of Chief Minister Bugti, has approved the 'Balochistan Prevention, Detention, and Deradicalisation Rules 2025'. This ruling is perceived as an effort to legalize enforced disappearances in Balochistan.

During a cabinet meeting presided over by Bugti, whose government is backed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), a contentious decision was made to provide legal justification for enforced disappearances and to detain those who have been forcibly disappeared in custody centers, where they would undergo interrogation supervised by police from the Counter-Terrorism Department.

“The approval of the Balochistan Prevention, Detention, and Deradicalisation Rules 2025 by a government backed by Pakistan’s influential institutions aims to legitimize enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The clear goal is to suppress the rising movement against enforced disappearances and state repression while silencing the families of the victims. Designating forcibly disappeared individuals as 'suspects' and subjecting them to interrogation in detention centers instead of presenting them to courts is directly contrary to the fundamental human rights guaranteed under the Constitution of Pakistan,” the editorial noted.

Point of View

It is crucial to approach the claims made by both sides with a discerning eye. While the allegations of human rights abuses are serious and warrant thorough investigation, it is also important to recognize the complexities of the political environment in which these events unfold. The nation must strive for justice and dialogue to ensure the protection of all citizens.
