Balochistan, March 29 (NationPress) - A suicide blast occurred on Saturday close to a rally held by Pakistan's Balochistan National Party (BNP) in the Mastung district, leaving at least six individuals injured, as reported by police officials. The party has claimed that this incident was a 'failed attempt' to stifle their protest against the Pakistani government.

Additionally, over 250 BNP activists were arrested during the same rally, which was part of a peaceful long march towards Quetta aimed at protesting the illegal detention of leaders and activists from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC).

The demonstrators were detained near Mastung in Balochistan, according to local media.

In light of the situation, several BNP activists have suggested that the blast was an effort to hinder their movement against the government. BNP chief Ahktar Mengal condemned the attack, labeling it a failed attempt to disrupt their protest. He took to social media to confirm his safety along with all party members.

"A failed attempt to make our protest unsuccessful once again. Alhumdullah, I'm safe with all party workers," the BNP chief stated on X.

The BNP affirmed that attacks and intimidation against its members will not prevent them from advocating for their demands. Simultaneously, the Quetta deputy commissioner denied the party's request for permission to hold the march, with police threatening action against the organizers if the gathering proceeded.

The explosion resulted in injuries to several individuals, including those pursuing the bomber.

The injured have been transported to a hospital for treatment, with two reported to be in critical condition.

An eyewitness shared with local media that the bomber arrived on a motorbike with an accomplice who successfully fled after dropping off the attacker.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.

Earlier that day, the BNP criticized the federal government for obstructing major entry points with containers as they commenced their peaceful march from Wadh to Quetta. The party leadership was poised to announce their future course of action amid the severe crackdown.
