This announcement followed the development of a broad consensus between India and China regarding the Line of Actual Control.
The Ministry of Defence, in its year-end review, stated that both nations are making progress in restoring the situation on the ground in specific areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
According to the statement, "India and China have reached a broad consensus to restore the ground situation in certain areas along the LAC. Ongoing diplomatic and military discussions are being held to address differences in various regions along the LAC. Consequently, a consensus was achieved based on mutual security and equality," it mentioned.
During the Chanakya Defence Dialogue on October 24, 2024, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh referred to this consensus as evidence that continuous dialogue leads to solutions.
The statement also indicated that the Indian Army maintained a high state of operational readiness to ensure stability along the borders.
The Indian Army has retained a high level of operational preparedness to secure stability and dominance along all frontiers, including the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and the Line of Control (LoC). Consistent counter-terrorism operations are being conducted while continuously assessing emerging and future threats to national security. Infrastructure development in border regions, as a vital component of operational readiness, is being prioritized in line with the Government's 'Viksit Bharat Vision'.
