India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed on Tuesday, 12 May that New Delhi has received a formal invitation for Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to visit Nepal, with dates to be determined at the mutual convenience of both sides. The announcement comes amid a backdrop of deepening India-Nepal ties and a separate diplomatic row over the Lipulekh Pass pilgrimage route.

Addressing the weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal responded to reports in Nepali media suggesting that Misri's proposed visit to Kathmandu had been postponed due to Nepal Prime Minister Balen Shah's reluctance to meet foreign diplomats.
