Kathmandu/New Delhi, Aug 16 (NationPress) Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to embark on a two-day official visit to Nepal beginning Sunday, following an invitation from his Nepalese counterpart, Amrit Bahadur Rai, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday.
India and Nepal have built strong and amicable relations, which have progressed significantly in various sectors over recent years. The Indian government places immense importance on its relationship with Nepal as part of its Neighbourhood First policy. The upcoming visit by the Foreign Secretary continues the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two nations and aims to enhance bilateral ties further,” the MEA stated.
As per Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during this visit, both Foreign Secretaries will engage in discussions covering multiple facets of the Nepal-India partnership, focusing on connectivity, development cooperation, and other shared interests. Foreign Secretary Misri will also meet with other senior dignitaries in Kathmandu.
Earlier this month, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar met with a group of young political leaders from Nepal in New Delhi, where they discussed the importance of close cooperation and robust people-to-people connections between the two countries.
In a post on X, Jaishankar expressed, “I was pleased to engage with a delegation of young political leaders from Nepal during their visit to India. We explored our close cooperation and deep links between our peoples.”
On July 30, Misri met with a multiparty delegation of Members of Parliament from Nepal and explored avenues for enhancing the partnership between India and Nepal for mutual gain.

On July 27, the Nepalese Embassy in India welcomed the visiting delegation of MPs, emphasizing that regular exchanges of visits by leaders, including MPs, will strengthen bilateral relations.
While sharing photographs of the MPs on X, the Nepal Embassy in India stated, “We are pleased to welcome the visiting delegation of MPs from Nepal and interact with them at the Embassy of Nepal in India today.
