Egypt's Foreign Minister and Blinken Address Recent Events in Syria

Cairo, Dec 11 (NationPress) Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty engaged in a phone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday evening concerning the recent events in Syria, as stated by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.
The two officials reached a consensus on the necessity of implementing a comprehensive political process that includes all Syrian national entities and parties, aimed at facilitating the restoration of stability in Syria.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to respecting Syria's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, according to a report by Xinhua news agency.
He strongly denounced Israel's occupation of the demilitarized buffer zone in the Golan Heights and adjacent territories, labeling it as an infringement on Syrian land and a serious violation of international law.
He called upon the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in halting any offensive actions against Syria.
In response, Blinken highlighted the 'historic opportunity' available for the Syrian populace to construct a better future and reiterated the demand for all parties involved in Syria to adhere to human rights standards, safeguard religious and ethnic minorities, and comply with international humanitarian law, as outlined in a statement from the U.S. State Department.
Meanwhile, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has fled to Russia for asylum following the collapse of his government on Sunday, triggered by a large-scale offensive by Syrian militant groups.
