Washington, March 30 (NationPress) Faye Hall, an American woman recently liberated by the Taliban in Afghanistan, expressed her gratitude to US President Donald Trump in a video message for facilitating her release.

On Saturday, Trump shared a video on social media featuring Faye Hall, the American woman who had been held captive by the Taliban since February.

"Thank you for bringing me home. I've never been so proud to be an American citizen," Hall stated in the video posted by Trump, conveying her appreciation to the President and expressing that she was "so glad" he was in office.

Hall also took the opportunity to recognize the women still imprisoned in Afghanistan.

"They're waiting for you to come and set them free," Hall mentioned in her message.

"Thank you, Faye — I am honored by your words!" Trump's post read, along with the video of Hall.

Hall was released on Thursday "following a court order and with logistical support from Qatar," which has been mediating on behalf of the US, a source informed CNN.

Hall, alongside a British couple and their Afghan translator, had been detained since February 1 while traveling to the central Bamiyan province of Afghanistan.

Her release followed the efforts of Trump envoy Adam Boehler and former Trump official Zalmay Khalilzad, who traveled to Kabul to secure the freedom of American George Glezmann, which was also mediated by Qatar.

In a post on X, Khalilzad confirmed Hall’s release, stating, "American citizen Faye Hall, just released by the Taliban, is now in the care of our friends, the Qataris in Kabul, and will soon be on her way home."

While Taliban officials did not disclose the reason for her arrest, media reports indicated that Hall was detained for allegedly using drones without permission.

The British couple detained alongside Hall remains in Taliban custody.

A senior Taliban official revealed that Hall was held by the Haqqani network to gain leverage over the US government.

Hall's release occurred after the US lifted its bounties on senior Haqqani officials, including a $10 million reward for Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Interior Minister of the Taliban government.

The Haqqani network is notorious for orchestrating some of the most lethal attacks during the Afghanistan conflict.

Hall is reportedly the fourth American to be released from Afghanistan since January.

Earlier this month, George Glezmann, an airline mechanic from Atlanta, was freed after more than two years in captivity.
