Frigid Temperatures and Snow Impact Millions of Americans

New York, Nov 30 (NationPress) A surge of Arctic air is on track to deliver bone-chilling temperatures throughout the weekend to many areas in the central and eastern United States, as reported by various weather agencies.

The heart of this Arctic air mass will mainly affect the northern Plains and upper Midwest early next week, with temperatures expected to reach highs in the single digits, 10s, and 20s, according to AccuWeather and the Xinhua news agency.

The US National Weather Service has cautioned residents in these regions, many of which are already experiencing significant lake-effect snow, to prepare for dangerously cold wind chills.

Throughout the long holiday weekend, this cold front will extend south and east, causing temperatures to plummet to near freezing from central Texas to northern Florida and up to New York, as stated in a report by USA Today.

Even in areas accustomed to Arctic conditions, the impending front is projected to lower temperatures by 10 to 20 degrees below the typical averages for late November and early December, according to AccuWeather.

By Saturday morning, approximately 196 million Americans will awaken to sub-zero temperatures, and for those residing along the Interstate 95 corridor, this will mark the coldest start to meteorological winter in years, as reported.

Winter storm warnings and advisories are currently in effect from northern Wisconsin to Michigan and western New York, where some areas might receive up to 4 feet of snow by the weekend's end. During the most intense periods, snowfall could occur at rates as high as 5 inches per hour, according to USA Today.
