New Delhi, Feb 18 (NationPress) The essence of Kashi Tamil Sangamam - an intercultural celebration spanning countries - resonates globally as Indian missions in various nations conduct events to highlight the ancient connections between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. This grand cultural convergence is taking place in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, beginning February 15.

The Indian Embassy in Cambodia organized a seminar on Tuesday to showcase the contribution of Sage Agastya to Indian traditional medicine and Tamil literature during the third edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS).

A number of members from the Indian diaspora in Cambodia, including Tamil Sangam members, attended the event in Phnom Penh.

Sage Agathiyar, also known as Agastya, holds a significant place in Hindu mythology. Renowned for his wisdom, spiritual insights, and cultural contributions, he played a pivotal role in bridging the cultures of North and South India. His legacy includes significant work in Siddha, the ancient Indian medical system, and he is revered as the Father of Tamil literature, credited with compiling the earliest Tamil grammar book, Agathiyam.

The High Commission of India in Kuala Lumpur, along with the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, also commemorated the inauguration of KTS 3.0.

High Commissioner B.N. Reddy welcomed attendees and expressed that KTS 3.0 aims to rediscover and reinforce the long-standing ties between the two esteemed knowledge centers, Kashi and Tamil Nadu. He encouraged the Tamil diaspora in Malaysia to participate in large numbers at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 in Varanasi.

Nedunchelian Vengu and Vaidyar Sanjay Kumar Ramachandran spoke on the theme of KTS 3.0, focusing on the 'Contribution of Sage Agasthiyar in Classical Tamil Literature and Grammar, and Contributions to the Siddha System of Medicine', and were honored during the event.

Approximately 100 individuals attended, including representatives from various community associations, members of PEPTIM (representing practitioners of Traditional Indian Medicine in Malaysia), and media personnel.

The Consulate General of India in Houston, in partnership with diaspora organizations, also hosted a noteworthy event on February 16 for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0. The gathering featured a panel discussion on 'Sage Agastya's Contributions – Work, Wisdom & Influence', with insights provided by Naga Ganesan, Thangavel Vijayalakshmi, Rajesh Garga, and Soundar Jeyabal, as detailed in a social media post by the Consulate.

A substantial number of members from the Indian-American community participated, making it a vibrant and successful gathering.

This esteemed cultural initiative is organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with various ministries and the Government of Uttar Pradesh. KTS provides a platform for scholars, students, philosophers, traders, artisans, artists, and individuals from various fields to unite, exchange knowledge, culture, and best practices, and learn from each other's experiences.
