New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Extending his warm regards for the Kashi Tamil Sangamam that commenced on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked that this dynamic initiative “enhances the essence of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed, “With the onset of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam today, I offer my heartfelt wishes for this vibrant event which strengthens the spirit of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.' I hope everyone attending the Sangamam enjoys a pleasant and unforgettable experience in Kashi!”
The fourth edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, a cultural and educational exchange initiative between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh), kicks off on Tuesday and will run from December 2 to 15 this year.
Initiated in 2022, this program aims to revive the age-old civilizational, linguistic, and spiritual bonds connecting Tamil Nadu and Kashi (Varanasi).
Prior to the launch, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conveyed his enthusiasm for the occasion on X.
“I am looking forward to witnessing the fourth edition of 'Kashi Tamil Sangamam', a vibrant representation of Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat, commencing today in the sacred city of Varanasi, the dwelling of Baba Vishwanath,” he shared.
“This magnificent event, beginning with the theme ‘Let us Learn Tamil’, will once again act as a bridge to unite the cultures and traditions of North and South India. Under the leadership of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, today’s ‘New India’ stands tall in Vedic and cultural consciousness,” he continued.
The inaugural edition in 2022, spanning nearly a month, witnessed enthusiastic involvement from scholars, students, artists, and pilgrims from both states.
The third edition, originally scheduled for December 2024, was moved and took place from February 15 to 24, 2025. Officials have confirmed that the upcoming fourth edition will launch in Varanasi on December 2, with the concluding ceremony set to occur in Rameswaram, symbolically linking the sacred northern and southern parts of the Indian subcontinent.
This year’s theme, “Learn Tamil,” accentuates the richness of the Tamil language and its classical literary heritage, particularly engaging students from northern states.
