Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Dhaka, Jan 13 (NationPress) In a troubling trend of escalating violence against minority groups, another Hindu man has been brutally murdered in Bangladesh. This time, the victim, a 27-year-old auto-rickshaw driver named Samir Das, was found hacked and stabbed to death by assailants in the Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district, according to local news reports.
The lifeless body of Samir was discovered in a crop field situated in Jagatpur village on Monday. He had left his home in his autorickshaw on Sunday evening, but when he did not return home late at night, his family commenced a search.
Eventually, local residents stumbled upon Samir’s frozen body in a field under the Sadar union of the upazila. Upon notification, police swiftly arrived at the scene to recover the body.
Initial reports indicate that Samir had multiple stab wounds, suggesting he was taken to a secluded area and ruthlessly killed in a robbery attempt aimed at stealing his autorickshaw.
Confirming the details, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Faizul Azim Noman from Daganbhuiyan Police Station stated, "The body has been retrieved and transported to the Feni General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Unfortunately, his autorickshaw is still missing. The police are currently conducting a special operation to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous act and recover the autorickshaw."
This incident represents the ninth occurrence of violence against Hindus in just 24 days, indicating a worrying increase in attacks on the Hindu community across Bangladesh.
On January 9, India voiced significant concerns regarding this alarming trend of violence towards minorities, particularly Hindus, across Bangladesh, emphasizing its commitment to monitoring the ongoing situation in the neighboring nation and urging decisive action against such communal violence.
